Can't Watch a .dvd file
Hi,
I'm running Windows 8.1 on a Dell Inspiron 3551 Laptop, using a DW316 external CD-DVD R/W drive. A friend was in the local university's production of The Mikado, and gave me a dvd of the show. The files on the dvd are: JACKET_P, OpenDVD,VIDEO_TS.
When I click on OpenDVD, I find files: ClickMe, which is an .htm file; and, UA Opera Theater Presents THE MIKADO . . ., which is a .dvd file.
I can not find a way to watch the performance! Please help. Thank you!
New copy of windows? Dell 15r (5537)
Hello, I have a question in regards to reinstalling windows on a clean hdd. A week ago my hard drive failed out on me, causing me to lose everything. I checked the box, and there was no back-up disk. Since my product is out of warranty, I'm also unable to request any backup media from Dell. Dell's customer support line was also very unhelpful.
Is there any way to reinstall windows without buying it again? I've already spent a good deal of money on the new hard drive, and considering the holidays are coming up, I can't really afford to sink any more money into an OS. I'm a college student and need to get this up running soon, before I go back to school.
Driver unavailable

Recovering Inspiron 5150 hard drive
I have an inspiron 5150 from years ago that was damaged (spilled liquid on the keyboard and the monitor won't come on), so I put it away to gather dust. However, recently I discovered that there is a very important file or files on the hard drive and I'm wondering can I remove the hard drive from the Inspiron and install it another, equally antiquated machine (Vostro 200) machine to access its contents? I have a new laptop but don't want to "tinker" with it because I use it for work so the old box is all I have available.
So can I remove and install or what's the easiest way to do this for a lay person other than having somebody who knows what they're doing do it for me?
Thanks.

Using Western Digitial WD50EZRX 5TB drive on Windows 7 Professional 64bit
Hello
I bought this new Western Digital Green 5TB drive as a storage but somehow Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on both my Dell Optiplex 990 (with A19 Bios) and Dell Studio XPS 8100 (with A05 Bios) cannot see the capacity beyond 561GB (instead of 5TB). I have tried just putting it in the USB docking station and connecting internally via ATA cable but there is no change.
On my Dell Optiplex 990 I even tried to change the primary 1G drive (it is an lab machine so I can wipe and reinstall OS) to using AHCI in the SATA drive options in Bios as I read it may be able to see the full capacity. Yet the problems I am running into now seem to be
1. BIOS don't even see the 5TB drive in the Dell Optiplex 990.
2. Windows cannot even install in the 1GB primary drive once I switch from default rapid storage to using AHCI.
Please kindly advise on how I can use this 5TB drive either as internal SATA or external USB drive in Windows 7. Thanks.
CD/DVD drive will not open...Need advice!!
I am in need of your wisdom...My daughter gave me a Dell SE198WFP as a gift...I'm running Windows 7 at present...I use Winamp for my music player, but I would like to rip a few of my CD's, and here's where I'm having a problem...
When I tried to access the CD/DVD player, it will not open...It makes this little squeaky sound like a rusted hinge, as if it's trying to work but then stops...
Could one of you kind folks tell me what to do??
I'm having to learn this new computer without any help from anyone....My old computer was a 10-year-old (inherited from my dad) Aprevia Q-X2 that my nephew rebuilt from scratch...I had Windows Vista on it and it worked it's little sweet, gallant heart out and finally gave up the ghost last week...
I would appreciate any help that you folks can give...Thank you...

Can anyone identify the following cable assy.? PWRC1
This would be part of a kit (RP2K5 I believe) for adding 2.5in SS drives to a T7910. There appears to be some confusion on a SAS connector in this cable assy. This is 'a bundled data/power cable that can be used for the embedded storage or the add-in card storage. I'm guessing 'embedded storage' means the SAS connector on the mother board and "add-in card storage' means a PERC (daughter) card added to the system, which uses a different SAS connector. The cable assy. I'm trying to identify should have a SAS connector compatible with the embedded SAS connector on the mother board.
I have a cable assy., T5C70 which is correct EXCEPT for the SAS connector, which appears to be for a PERC card.
USB 3.0 HDDs Reported as SCSI
I have added two Seagate USB 3.0 HDDs to my XPS 8900, under Windows 10. When I look in Device Manager, they show up as SCSI devices. I'm trying to assign a drive letter to one of the HDDs, but the "Change Drive Letter" option is greyed-out. The other drive is fine. Both drives showed up on my Windows 7 system device manager as USB 3.0 devices and I was able to assign drive letters to both devices. Any ideas about how to 1) get device manager to properly recognize the drives as USB, not SCSI, and 2) assign a drive letter to the second drive? (Both drives are NTFS, one is 5TB and the other is 3TB.) Thanks.
PXE-MOF No Device Found
I have an MX17 R3. Win 7 Ult.
The computer froze, threw a blue screen and rebooted.
On restart the hard drives werenot found.
I took the drive out of bay 0 (500GB SSD) and reinserted it.
Booted and it worked. This happened 5 more times.
Now, it the hard drive isn't recognized at all.
I have a 750GB HD in bay 1, which I moved to bay 0.
I was going to reinstall win 8 on that drive, but it is also
Not recognized.
The drives do not show up in bios.
Nor are they recognized by the boot disk.
If I put either drive into another system, they work fine.
If I put another drive into my system, it works fine.
Any thoughts?

DVD Drive will not read software after factory reset
I did a factory reset of my laptop (XPS L502X) to go back to Windows 7 from Windows 10 (due to certain incompatibilities).
Afterwards , drive won't read software .
It will however happily burn to a blank disk (using Roxio). It won't however then read the contents.
It will play pre-recorded Film DVD's
I have tried suggestions on these forums such as deleting the driver then re-flashing the BIOS (BIOS is latest version).
I have tried the Microsoft Fixit
Drive is an optiarc dvd+-rw ad-7717h
Device Manager describes it as a CD-ROM
Any ideas please? Need a Christmas Miracle!
mSATA specs for Latitude 6520
I've got a Latitude M6520 and noticed that there is a internal slot for an mSATA flash drive. Does anyone have the specs for the drive that will fit this?
What kind of hard drive will work on Dimension 2400, RPM and buffer size?
Will a Dell Dimension 2400 accept a hard drive with 7200 RPM? Will it accept an 8 MB cache?
I'm assuming it won't accept a 250 GB hard drive, because my efforts to get it to recognize one have failed. Therefore I am going for 120 GB.

XPS 8900 Hard Drive Upgrade
Hello,
I recently purchased a Dell XPS 8900 desktop computer running Windows 10. I would like to replace the original 1TB hard drive with a 6 TB drive. Both are Seagate drives.
My plan was to clone all of the original drive content to the new drive. This includes the Windows partition and 4 Dell hidden partitions.
I used Acronis True Image 2016 to do the clone and it worked except that all of the partitions are exactly the same size as the original drive and I get about 561 GB of unallocated space at the end.
The Acronis software seems to include controls for modifying partition sizes but I can't expand any partitions. Also, I notice that if I don't clone one of the partitions it is still created on the other drive but without any content. So it seems I can't modify the partitions at all.
What I wanted is for the Dell partitions to remain the same sizes but the Windows partition would expand and use all of the remaining unallocated space. As it stands now the 6 TB drive would work but most of it's space is unusable.
I did try some partition software also with no success. So where do I go from here to copy the hard drive without a big recovery effort?
Thanks,
Mike
