I bought a L521x originally equipped with a 512 Mb SSD, which was a Samsung 830 SSD manufactured for Dell as an OEM equipment for which the Magician software was not working (this is to say that I never checked the speed of the HD before).
Recently I upgraded the original SSD with the Samsung SSD 840evo 1 Tb, and I started managing the new SSD with Magician. Now the bad discovery is that, although I expected a performance gain:
1) the Windows index regarding the HD has not changed: still 7.7;
2) Magician is reporting for the SATA channel the SATA2 speed instead of the expected SATA3.
I know the intel HM77 chipset supports the SATA3 specification.
The OS is Windows 7 Ultimate x64. The boot is via BIOS (not UEFI). The partition table is MBR (not GPT). The system is updated with the latest BIOS version and the latest drivers. Obviously replacing the HD, I used the original connectors provided by Dell with the notebook.
What's wrong with my configuration? That is: why the SSD is running at SATA2 speed instead of SATA3?
Thanks in advance.
