Configuring RAID 1 on a 8700

I just got a new Dell 8700 with Windows 7 and a 2 TB Seagate drive.  I am trying to install and configure an identical Seagate drive for RAID 1.  I read a similar post for the 8500 that was helpful, but I am still running into a problem.  When I go into the Intel Rapid Storage Technology app, I can see both the original drive and the new drive, but I am not seeing any option to Create a new volume, as described in the Intel Rapid Storage Technology User Guide, Section 8.2.  Does anyone know why this would not be showing up?  RAID is enabled in the BIOS, and the Intel Rapid Storage Techology app came pre-loaded from Dell.  It looks like it was RAID ready.  One bit of additional info.  When I installed the 2nd drive, I connected it to the SATA 1 connector on the motherboard.  The 1st drive was connected to SATA 0, and I moved the DVD connector to SATA 2.  I don't know if the SATA connectors matter, and I couldn't find any doc on that.
