Hi

I have a Dell Dimension 9200 that is giving me a problem in reinstalling the O/S (XP sp2).

I have arranged the two disks as a raid 1 array the BIOS is setup to use RAID.

I reinstall windows using the supplied CD  but on boot the following error displays

Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem. could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware. Please check the windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information.

Here is what I have tried so far (all fail - same error):

1) break the original (raid 0) raid array into individual disks set bios to autodetect raid or setup for ATA, reinstall, reboot, fail

2) remake the array as raid 1 reinstall, reboot, fail

3) boot into the recovery console and run chkdsk /r, reboot same problem

4) from the recovery console bootcfg /add locate installation, reboot, same problem

5) from recovery console bootcfg /rebuild locate installation, reboot, same problem

6) take ntoskrnl.exe from the CD (it was expanded not in ntoskrnl.ex_ format) and copy it to c:\windows\system32, reboot, same error

7) Reinstalled Windows using R158601 drivers entered at the pre o/s stage (press F6 etc), reboot, fail

8) Reinstalled Windows using Intel 8.9.0.1023 Intel Matrix Storage Manager drivers entered at the pre o/s stage (press F6 etc), reboot, fail

Anyone know the answer?
