Hello -
I'm about to purchase a Dell Inspiron 530 desktop with the downgrade to Windows XP operating system. The specs on the 530 say something like "Maximum 1TB with all hard drives used".
I'm a little contused by that: is it possible to install 2 separate 1TB hard drives, one in each of the internal bays, for a total of 2TB in the Inspiron 530?
Or is there a hard drive controller limitation of some sort on the 530 that literally limits the TOTAL hard drive capacity across all bays to be 1TB? That would seem strange: 1TB and 1.5TB hard drives are becoming commonplace these days. If there is a limitation, does that mean you can't use a 1.5TB hard drive at all in the Inspiron 530?
On the other hand, I noticed that the XPS 630 specifications say that you can in fact have up to 2TB total drive capacity when you have 2 drives of 1TB each. Is it really necessary to get an XPS 630-class machine just to be able to have 2TB of disk space in the internal drives? And even then, does this mean you still can't put 2 drives of 1.5TB each in the XPS 630?
Could someone please help clarify what the hard drive limitation - if any - is on the Inspiron 530 running Windows XP?
Thanks in advance.
