dell inspiron "M731R" disk drive issues please help

I got a new laptop that i ordered from QVC. it works nicely but i have a few hardware issues with the disk drive. So ive had this laptop for about 4 days and the 2nd day i had it i noticed that my laptop failed to read my game CDs and music CDs. This disk drive sounds like its trying to read the CD but it fails and the light refuses to come on. i re-started my computer multiple times and its still not working. now this is my 1st time using windows 8 so am i missing something ? and please dont link me things to instal things unless i must do it to fix my computer. please help me fix this  before the warranty runs out or I'll need to return it
