I just purchased a used Dell XPS 14 L421x, which was stated to be seller refurbished. After running system diagnostics, everything passed except for the "hard drive target read test." After researching this failure, it is apparent that the hard drive will need to be replaced. I want to know if there is anything that may be done to prevent the need for a hard drive replacement. If that is not possible, I don't mind replacing the hard drive, but I need to know which hard drives are compatible. Finally, it seems like this model is notorious for hard drive failure. Shouldn't dell have done some sort of recall on the hard drives. It seems a little absurd that so many people have complained about the hard drives failing within weeks of use.
