Hoping someone can help me. I have an Inspiron 1545 laptop that I've had just over 15 months. I was using it this morning, left the room and came back to a black screen saying:"internalt for multi core processors will be disabled
No bootable devices - strike f1 to retry boot, f2 for setup utility press f5 to run on board diagnostics"
The hard drive is not showing in the bios and I have reseated the hard drive numerous times. I ran the diagnostic and when it got to the hard drive test it says not applicable. I then tried to boot windows7 from cd (both setting the DVD drive as primary boot device and using f12 boot menu but I am still getting the no bootable devices error. The DVD drive is appearing in both the bios and passing the diagnostic tool.
I tried another hard drive I had in an old laptop and it is saying the same thing. Unfortunately the only other working laptops I have are IDE so I cannot test the SATA hard drive in another machine.
I was thinking it was he'd failure until the second drive gave the same error message. Is there anything else that can cause this? I don't want to buy a new hard drive to find that it is some other issue. Any help would really be appreciated, needless to say the laptop is just out of warranty and it seems to be a common problem but I haven't been able to find a solution on the net and I rely heavily on the laptop.
