I have an XPS 12 with 128 GB SSD. When reinstalling Windows from scratch, should I secure erase the SSD with a program such as Parted Magic? I've tried using similar programs but cannot get them to load on the computer (even when switching the UEFI to legacy).
Also, this computer had partitions for UEFI, recovery, etc. If I am reloading windows, is it safe to delete all these partitions? (I hope so because I already did..lol). Will Windows recreate the needed partitions. I know that it obviously won't recreate a Dell recovery partition if it's just Windows I'm loading. I'm hoping to get the Dell recovery disks in the mail soon so I can reload all of this.
Last question, using the recovery disks or recovery partitions, is there any way to clean install Windows 8.1 since it uses the built in OEM key?
Thanks much!
