I recently bought a Dell Vostro 3550 and since the very beginning it started freezing and it even crashed once during the first week of use.
As I do only use the usual Windows Office Software and don't download any programs at all I don't know what could be the cause; I already checked it with the Dell Support Center and it said that the 'SMART short self test' failed and that I should backup all my files. My anti-virus system couldn't find anything either.
It freezes especially when I want a program to start, i.e clicking on 'My Documents' or wanting to start a scan. The desktop goes blank, and only goes back to normal after either using the Task Manager (which sometimes also freezes) or shutting it down manually.
I am very distressed and would like to know what could be the cause for this problem. I only just purchased this computer, I do not understand why it is in such a state.
