I have an Inspiron 17R and installed a 256GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD drive. I'm working with a video presentation software and during video rendering the application often shuts down. I've had many interactions with the software company and they claim there are no issues with the software.
I use a Notebook Cooler ZM-NC2000, but the drive still seems to get pretty hot. As a test I had a small desk fan which I directed into the left side of the laptop while running the rendering process and the process completed. Therefore, I'm suspecting that the drive is overheating.
I performed diagnostics and here are some results:
High Speed RPM: 5100
Max Speed RPM: 2600
CPU Thermistor High 65C (149F)
Video Thermistor High 54C (129.2F)
Has anyone had a similar issue? Any suggestions or other possibilities? I also have request into Samsung, but figured I'd check with the experts here:)
Thanks.
