Hi everyone,
I recently bought the Inspiron 7559, 16GB RAM, UHD/touch screen, 4GB NVidia, 1TB HDD and 128GB SSD. I have already swapped out the HDD for a 1TB Samsung 850 Pro SSD. I am now considering swapping out the 128GB SSD for a 512GB equivalent. I realise this may cause me issues with cloning as the 128 GB is the C: drive but my issue is about SATA and PCIe.
The current SSD is a Samsung CM871 M.2 2280 128 GB. What I am looking to replace this with is a Samsung 950 PRO 512 GB SSD - M.2 2280 - MZ-V5P512BW - PCIe 3.0 x4 (NVMe). However, I cannot establish if this would work in my Inspiron 7559's M.2 slot. The existing SSD appears to be SATA and the preferred replacement a PCIe but I am not sure if the 7559 has a switchable M.2 port like some motherboards.
So my questions are - Can the Inspiron 7559 take the Samsung 950 Pro M.2 PCIe card and if not can anyone recommend a good 512GB M.2 SSD card to replace my existing 128GB SSD card?
Thank you
