Background
I have a hard drive with HDD password set from Dell XPS 15 (L502x) laptop that the screen cable has been burned, so I tried to connect the hard drive to another TOSHIBA Satellite laptop and when it prompt for HDD password, I type it and it said that the password is incorrect when I am sure the correctness of the password typed.
I disconnected the screen cable on the Dell XPS 15 (L502x) and when I start that laptop again, it gave me 8 beeps after I typed the BIOS password from blind (according from what I found, that mean LCD error), then I removed the CMOS CR2032 battery for 30+ seconds and then put it again hoping to remove the BIOS password, so when I started the laptop again, it beeped once then 5 times. I restarted the laptop and now it give me 2 beeps (RAM error?). So I think that the motherboard has affected too.
Question
I do not know whether the HDD password is machine-specific. Can I access the content, or remove the HDD password by using another Dell laptop?
