I just came accross a free 170l pc. I need to get it set up. It doesn't have windows or anything on it. I really want to learn how to work on these things myself. I've done a bunch of reading on Google and can't really find what I need. I'm guessing what I need to know may be no brainer stuff. Still, this would be my 1st rodeo. Any suggestions would be great. So far from what I've read I need to get a software 1st? I think the newest I can do is windows 7. Again this is just from the various forums I've browsed. I can easily be wrong. The person I got the machine from says it's got the plentium 4 processor. 2gb of ram and 80gb hdd. If the first thing I need is the operating software what would be best? Should I go with newest possible? Maybe go for Windows xp? I definitely don't do anything serious with it. At most watch YouTube videos so I don't want to spend a killing on a pc. It would just be helpful for doing college work. Thanks all.
