DO NOT APPLY FIRMWARE FOR SK HYNIX SSD IF BIOS IS CONFIGURED FOR UEFI!! >

Applying the SK Hynix firmware for the SSD on my XP 13 bricked the laptop.

The firmware upgrade finished, I pressed Ok to reboot.  Upon rebooting, the I received 'no boot device found'.  This occurred although the drive was still visible to the bios (e.g. pressed F2 to check the bios).

Not able to do anything with the laptop, I rebuilt it still configured as UEFI bios.  Same problem occurred again.

I later reconfigured the bios from UEFI to Legacy BIOS, reloaded the OS, reboot after OS install and configuration was successful, and the laptop was able to reboot multiple times e.g. no more 'no boot device found'

I then reconfigured the bios back to UEFI, reloaded OS, rebooted afte OS install and configuration was successful, and the laptop was no longer able to reboot e.g. getting 'no boot device found'.

This clearly shows that the SK Hynix firmware apparently has issue with laptop bios configured for UEFI.

Dell technician has been dispatched to replace both the SSD drive and the system board.  Please reference for more details as they unfold: Service Request# 920821213
