I'm not very tech-savy. Please read the solution I've already tried before suggesting something I've already done besides getting a new drive. I have a Dell Optiplex 755 desktop that the TSScorp CDRWDVD TS-L463AD300 will not read DVD-R discs. It reads blank CDs, recorded/burnt DVD-Rs, regular DVDs, and regular CDs. It makes some noise, which I assume is it trying to read the disc. Sometimes it reads the disc, but then asks how I would like to format it (CD or media disc..in which it will not let me select he media disc). I tried the pre-installed media players to detect and/or write on the DVD-R. After Googling my issue specifically and vaguely, nothing helped. I used the Mr.Fixit download from Microsoft. I looked up the GUID *** in regedit to delete the upper and lower limits, but there were no folders to open. I uninstalled the drive. I'm not sure how I managed to reinstall it because for a while I couldn't find it in the device manager or regedit. I checked the drivers. I ran full test diagnostic from Microsoft for about an hour. The property: device description states CD- ROM Drive, not CD/DVD-ROM(located in Computer; DVD/CDRW Drive (D:) Properties; Hardware tab; TSSTcorp CDRWDVD TS-L463A ATA Device Properties; Details tab; Properties: Device Description in drop-down menu).
