I help (for free) people who are poor and/or technically incapable of solving their problems.
The family down the street brought me their laptop, a Dell Inspiron N7010. I was told their son "inadvertently" created a password about two years ago and since then the entire family could not use the laptop. I think they attempted to have it fixed prior to them coming to me, but became discouraged when they learned they were going to have to pay several hundred dollars. these people are poor and appear to be NOT computer savvy, so I am inclined to believe them.
The laptop service tag code is <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>.
If you need any other information, such as the family name, phone number, address, serial number, etc. please let me know and I will attempt to get that information on behalf of this family.
I am fairly certain that the password the son created is the bios password as i did change out the Hard Disk and the problem remained. I do realize I could disassemble the laptop and clear the bios which would reset it, but I would prefer to not have to do that.
If you can help me, I am sure the family will be very grateful.
