Dear all techies,
I have had a Toshiba 1T/8GB Hybrid drive fitted to my Inspiron N5510 Laptop and I find that Dell Utility PC-Doctor does not seem to like it. It does not complete a system scan but comes up with unknown errors when it does a "Funnel seek test" and a "Spindle test." Thus the PC-Doctor facility of checking for software updates is now not available to me. Also after using this drive for about two weeks I have occasions where it goes into a blank screen mode for about 6 minutes after entering user name / password.
Running CHKDSK seems to solve the problem as the log reported that it was:-
cleaning up 180 unused index entries from index $DDH of file 0x9.
cleaning up 180 unused security descriptors.
CHKDSK discovered free space marked as allocated in the volume bitmap
Windows made corrections to the file system.
I would guess a lot of Bell PCs use PC-Doctor.
Toshiba help desk advised me it would be down to Dell to make their software work with 3rd party innovations. I don't think so? The gentleman who fitted the drive said he had some issues cloning my old drive.. that could of cause be the cause of the problem.
Anybody had similar issues?
Thanks
