Hello, I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop and my hard drive has recently failed. The laptop won't start anymore and I need to know if I can buy a replacement hard drive or if I need to get a new laptop.

I've been looking at hard drives, but they've all been 2.5 inches, whereas I've measured mine and it's 3 inches. Would a 2.5 inch hard drive work?
Would I be able to use an external hard drive?
