I lost my CD/DVD driver entry in BIOS boot section while trying to change the boot order around. I was trying to use a boot disk that did not work correctly and did not know it and thought I had to change boot order to see the boot-able DVD. DOH!! ;-)
One of the 5 boot choices changed from [HL-DT-ST DVD+/-RW GHBON] to [Internal ODD Devices] in all cases.
Below the 5 choices is the HHD entry and below that was the DVD entry of "HL-DT-ST DVD+/-RW GHBON". Now there is only the HHD entry and no DVD entry.
DVD shows OK in "Device Manager" and will boot from proper DVD boot disk OK. I tried updating BIOS from A04 to A05 with no change. I've run every Dell tool/test I can find with no luck in restoring/correcting the DVD entry in BIOS.
I spent the better part of a week in setting up this backup compy with all the programs/files wife and I use for work/play. I wanted to make an ISO image of everything for total restore in one move. I don't want to re-build it from scratch again unless I have no other choice. I made all the factory disks to restore but will it restore the BIOS DVD boot entry correctly? If this is only choice I'll do it but it has to correct the BIOS entries.
