The first time my pc broke last year, I had to replace my hard drive due to bad sectors. Prior to that, I had to revive it for a while using HDD generator just to use my pc as I was abroad and need a pc to work. I replace it when I comae back home. Initially, it was a 9mm Toshiba SATA (320 GB, 7200rpm) HDD. Since I can't find an exact brand and spec of this HDD, I opted to buy this 7mm 500GB WD Blue WD5000LPVT from my trusted supplier, but found out that my laptop could not detect it for some unknown reason when I went home. Going from one shop to another to fix this, I ended up in the Dell joint in the mall and was told later that the HDD was not compatible for my laptop. So be it, they supplied me with a 7mm 500GB Seagate HDD and all went well. The problem was after 6 months, without any probable cause after a normal shutdown, it suddenly registered this PXE-E61: Media Test Failure, Check Cable. I checked the bios and primary drive was not detected. I followed the normal detach/re-seat method to fix some loose connections of the HDD but still had the same problem. I did it again, but did a total cleaning and air blowing, and run Diagnostics, but primary drive was still undetected and everything passed the test. I immediately bought a new one (Seagate), the same as before but still had that error. I tested the old one and found out that there was not even an error using an adapter. I just transferred my important files just in case. The new one was ok too (which should be!) when I checked from my other computer - externally I mean. Could this mean my board or the SATA Terminal has a problem? What I mean is, my laptop could not detect any HDD. I even used a third new HDD, detected by another Dell Latitude E6330 - mine doesn't? I followed all suggestions that I found here and in the net but nothing seems to help me fix this except to bring to the shop again for an overhaul, he he. I can assemble, disassemble a pc, but this one's beyond my experience.
