My new DVD-burner has SATA cable sockets, but my 2006 Dell Desktop uses an older, larger type of plug. Can the new burner be installed?

I'm a home-office worker, and my dog has almost as good a grasp of my computer's technical requirements as I do.

I recently bought an internal Lite-On DVD-writer for my 2006 Dell Desktop, because the old Philips 8801 DVD drive had broken down.

Only when it arrived did I realise the Lite-On DVD writer uses SATA plugs, which are different to the ones used by my computer.

The LITE-ON DVD writer uses a 7-pin data cable and a 15 pin power connector.

The Dell computer has a four-pin power connector of a much older and larger kind. The data cable plugs into a socket which has two rows of 20 pins each.

Can the new LITE-ON DVD be used with my 2006 Dell desk-top at all, or are they completely incompatible?

Anyone who can help will be very appreciated, because without certain knowledge I'm not sure what to do next ... I don't even know what the old cable connector types used by my Dell Desktop are called!
