USB ports not working unless in Safemode

Hi guys.  This morning after restarting my computer i realised that none of my USB ports were working.  I have tried re-installing the device drivers and restoring an older state with no success.  I'm not sure if this is associated with the problem but after booting the computer I get an error reading "DSD5592 not responding".     Any information on how to fix this problem would be extremely helpful! thanks
