Inspiron laptop HD cloning failure

Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron N7110 laptop running Win7 64...

The hard drive failed in this laptop. I ordered a new HD through Dell, and also ordered the recovery software to restore it back to original specs. The hard drive I have recieved, but they are unable to provide me the software.

Ok... so now what?..

I purchased a hard drive adapter so I can plug the old drive into my desktop-- the "OEM" and "Recovery" partitions show healthy, so I plugged the new HD into the desktop, along with the old, and tried to clone these 2 partions using Macrium, but it keeps failing... I would be willing to buy a copy of Win 7, but I'm afraid it will do no good without Dells proprietary drivers.

I'm not interested in recovering data. I just want to get this laptop up and running, its been almost a month...Can you help me with what needs to be done? Any help would be appreciated. This is my wife's laptop and she needs it to be running, it's been down now for a month.

Thanks Smile
Max

...I was thinking as I was failing at cloning a HD, that what if i just cloned the OEM and recovery partitions off of my desktop-- its also a Dell Inspiron, running Win7 64? Think that would work?
